The first quarter of China's home textile exports to the United States and European markets fell sharply!

2023-05-31

In March, China's home textile foreign trade exports grew rapidly, which drove a small positive growth in home textile exports in the first quarter. However, from the point of view of the world's major markets and major export provinces and cities, the performance is not balanced. The export to the US and European markets still has a large decline, and the export performance of the Yangtze River Delta region is still weak.

In the first three months, China's home textile exports reached US$7.51 billion, an increase of 1.1%. Among them, the monthly export in March was 3.1 billion US dollars, an increase of 27.5%. Judging from the data, after the Spring Festival and the fluctuations at the end of the domestic epidemic control, the monthly export scale has once again returned to a relatively high export level of more than US$3 billion in the fourth quarter of last year. However, whether it can continue in the second quarter remains to be seen. After calculation, If the monthly export scale in the second quarter reaches more than 2.66 billion US dollars, China's home textile export in the first half of the year is expected to achieve steady growth.

The top four markets for China's home textile exports are the United States, the European Union, ASEAN and Japan. In the first quarter of this year, China's home textile exports to the United States and Europe experienced a sharp decline, with export volumes of US$2.12 billion and US$820 million, a drop of 14.9%. and 20.6%; exports to Japan were US$600 million, a decrease of 7.3%; exports to ASEAN were US$1.16 billion, an increase of 54%. Among other major markets, China's exports to Singapore increased by 3.9 times, exports to Saudi Arabia increased by 38.3%, and exports to Australia increased by 18.7%.
